To ensure that your project complies with the legal aspects we are required to submit documentation to the Work Safe Department closest to your site.

Work Safe requires not less than five (5) working days notice if your project exceeds 10m².  The documents need to be lodged by our Company.

Work Safe requires not less than 24 hours notice if your project is under 10m².

If your project is urgent, we can discuss with you the ways of submitting a ‘special circumstances’ lodgement.  This can be done for a 24 hour emergency submission.

This document will enable Work Safe to visit your project to inspect our removal process to ensure that we are complying with all of the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.  It will also be added to the Work Safe database.  This information will then be accessed should any of your neighbours contact Work Safe during the removal process.  They can be informed that the work is being conducted by a licenced contractor which will hopefully ease there anxiousness about the situation.

In accordance with the provisins of Part 6 of the Occupational Health & Safety (Asbestos) Regulations 2003, all asbestos containing materials which are likely to be disturbed by planned demolition or refurbishment works should be (so far as is practicable) removed prior to the commencement of those works.

All refurbishment/demoliton works are to be undertaken in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 and Occupational Health & Safety (Asbestos) Regulations 2003, along with any other State specific regulations.

It is recommended that all removal of asbestos products should be performed by an approved asbestos contractor.  You are however, permitted to remove your own bonded asbestos materials if you are the property owner.  We strongly suggest that you check with your local authorities as all State legislative requirements differ.

It is recommended that static air monitoring be conducted during all asbestos removal works.  This is a requirement of commercial removal but not domestic.

The Asbestos Regulations require that at the end of the removal process a visual inspection of the asbestos removal area should be performed by an independent person to verify that there is no asbestos residue remaining as a result of the removal work.  In the case of friable materials , clearance air monitoring must be conducted within the enclosed area to verify that asbestos fibre levels are less than 0.01 fibres per millilitre.  Clearance monitoring may also be appropriate where non-friable materials have been removed from internal or enclosed areas.  An asbestos hygienist is an appropriate person to give guidance in these matters and to provide air monitoring and isnpection services.

When we provide you with a quotation it will have the visual clearance inspection as a seperate item on the quotation.  You are well within your rights to obtain your own independent person to conduct this inspection.  Please advise our staff at the time of your booking should you wish to engage your own person.
